Recipe of the Week

When you live in Seattle where its cold, dreary, and rains 9 months out of the year...you often find yourself cooking comfort food that warms your entire body. Granted the sun was out today... it still was not warm! Hubby & I decided to try out this new recipe and it's definitely a keeper and really not that hard to make! (FYI: We cut the recipe down to 4 servings)Baked Potato Soup VServings 12 |

Adventures at Northwest Trek

We picked up the nephews yesterday and headed down south to Northwest Trek for some adventures with the wildlife. There were lots of questions like "what's that?" or "why?" from Ezra and Jack. It's a little bit challenging to keep up with 2 active little guys and manage 2 little babies and try to get some decent shots off ... even with 4 adults! But all in all it was a great day!

My Latest Hobby

For the longest time I've been interested in photography and have always wanted to learn more about it, how to do it, and someday how to develop my own film. Lucky for me I come from a family of pretty talented artists if you ask me! My brother Corey is an amazing wedding photographer and is sharing some of his knowledge with me. Oh and some of his equipment - I have such a good brother! I'm

Reflecting on 2008

I can't believe it is 2009 already...seems like 2008 went by in a blur. The first 3 1/2 months were consumed with wedding planning. Of course we made some time for paintball!!It's amazing that Kyle & I are celebrating our 9 month anniversary this month! It seems just the other day we were getting married. And then we were off to Jamaica for our honeymoon....That was the best vacation EVER ...

too close for comfort

I'm sure all of you can relate to those times driving when you had a too close for comfort experience on the road... today was one of those days for me. Driving home on my commute this afternoon which on the plus side was remarkably faster than normal with less traffic. I had just crossed the King/Snohomish County line which meant I went from dry skies to pouring rain. My windshield wipers were

surviving the perpetual gray skies

On my long commute home last week a radio forecaster said that Seattle had seen the last true sunny skies until next June... great news to hear in general... even better news to hear when stuck in rush hour traffic on the highway. They did offer some hope... we will see glimpses of sun-breaks ... awesome! Well of course this week proved that they were wrong, not surprising, but this mornings fog

emergency trip...yet again

20 minutes into my drive to work this morning I got a slightly panicked call from Kyle...Patrón's eye was swollen shut! Within 10 minutes he had broken into hives all over his body and his entire face was swollen. He looked like he had gotten into a fight and lost...badly! So yet another emergency visit to the vet. Apparently it was an allergic reaction to something...what to - they can't tell

Camping Fun

Kyle & I packed up the car and dog for another attempt at camping this weekend. Last 8 or so months we've been attending Westgate Chapel. We headed up north with the church's young marrieds group for a weekend of camping and fellowship. We had a lot of fun, made some new friends, and had some really good conversation. Everyone of course loved Patrón... who wouldn't! He was a champ all weekend -

Bite of Seattle

One of my favorite things about Seattle is the many festivals that we have.  Kyle had a shoot this weekend through Comcast at the Bite of Seattle. (You can watch the show on Comcast on Demand - live today - or reruns every Wed.)  Anyhow, Nic, Rebecca, and I headed down to Seattle Center to check out Kyle's mad skills behind the camera and eat some grubbing food. Traffic was terrible, parking was

Home Videos in HD!!!

One of Kyle and my favorite things to do is spend the afternoon with our nephews. You just can't replace the goofy personalities kids have. I always love when your in big groups how the kids become your entertainment! So a couple weekends ago Kyle led a training for an equipment company in exchange for the chance to get one the newest cameras out on the market for the weekend. We could probably

Girl Time!

This past weekend my wonderful sisters (I have 4 now!!!) threw me a bridal shower. I will admit that I was a little nervous, okay maybe pretty nervous, for the night. You just never know what to expect with a bridal shower plus being the center of attention...well that can make a girl nervous! But it was SO much fun. Amazing food - all appetizers - my favorite food, good sangria (yummy tasting

Angel or .....?

Meet our adorable little guy, Patron. He is our 55 pound English Bulldog who believes that he is a lap dog! He can't stand being alone and makes a very...well let's say...unique sound to let you know! Life is never dull with him - in eight months he has had pneumonia and eaten half a tennis ball resulting in two emergency room visits, remodeled two houses by chewing through the drywall, graduated

Just One of Those Days

It's been one of those days...actually one of those weeks. You know the ones where everything seems to go wrong and just keep going wrong (don't remind me that it's only Tuesday). Don't worry I won't go into the details of that because no one really likes reading someone else's complaints. The highlight of the evening was that I got to babysit my little "nephew" Jack. Is he not the cutest little

Solitude...

Awww…the sweet serenity of solitude. The house is still…nothing but the sound of the wind chimes outside fills the house, well that and the loud snoring from an exhausted dog! We’re not sure what to do with ourselves now! Both Kyle's family and mine left today. It was a good, intense and interesting, but a good holiday. 15 people, 3 dogs, and 1 cat for 7 days is…well that pretty much sums it up

Oh Christmas Tree...Oh Christmas Tree

I love the Christmas season. The cold crisp air, frost on the windows, fires in the fireplace, hot coco, and the smell of a fresh Christmas tree in the house! We went and chopped down our Christmas tree this weekend. It was really fun. I have never chopped down a Christmas tree before - even Patron enjoyed himself! We decided this will be our family tradition. I love that Kyle and I are starting
